Teachers are leaders. The fact that their followers are children and teenagers makes them no less of a leader than a pastor, administrator, corporate CEO, or government official. Following key leadership practices will assist teachers with their instruction, problem solving, and relationships.

 

What is a leader? Key words:

         Influence         Persuasion          Change          Engagement

What is spiritual leadership? Key principles:

         Spirit-directed

         God-driven values and purposes

         Personal integrity

ADVICE FOR EDUCATORS

  1. Relationships: Let God use every person (good or bad) to shape your character.
  2. Trust: Build a foundation that will enable others to follow you.
  3. Process: Give God time. He’s not wasting yours.
  4. Vision: Cast a vision for those you lead.
  5. Progress: Don’t let moderate success impede progress.
  6. Mentoring: Inspire biblical value development, not just compliance.
  7. Communication: Master communication to share your vision and motivate people.
  8. Excellence: Replace perfection with a God-honoring standard.
  9. Motivating: Encourage students and reward successes.
  • Priority: Focus on what is most important to keep students from being sidetracked.
  • Listening: Become a listener rather than being preoccupied with self.
  • Inspiration: Leaders should inspire and train new leaders.
